I’ve loved the Spice Girls since the first time I shouted “Girl Power!” into a hairbrush in my bedroom.

Spice Girls weren’t just a band when you grew up in the 90s, they were a full personality. Emma Bunton was always my favourite. Soft pastels, big smile, the kind one. I wanted to be her instantly.

So when I started seeing people talk about a possible 30 year anniversary celebration in 2026, I didn’t even try to play it cool. I was straight into “is this actually happening?” mode.

Because 2026 isn’t just any year. It marks thirty years since Wannabe. And if you know, you know.

So… Is Anything Actually Happening?

At the moment, nothing is officially confirmed. But there is a reason the rumours feel louder again this time.

On The Rebecca Judd Show, Mel C said the words every Spice Girls fan immediately locks onto: “talks are happening.”

She explained that they’re chatting, looking at ideas, and want to make sure that if they do something, they do it properly. She even said there’s a bit of fear around “doing it the wrong way”.

That part made it feel more real.

Because you don’t worry about getting something wrong unless it’s actually being considered.

There are always rumours with the Spice Girls. Every year, without fail. But this felt different. Less “wouldn’t it be nice” and more “this is at least being discussed properly”.

That’s not a tour announcement… but it’s not nothing, either.

A Quick Reality Check (Where We’re Actually At)

If you’re a proper fan, the timeline matters.

The last time all five Spice Girls performed together was the London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.

It wasn’t a tour or a long comeback, just one performance. But it didn’t feel small. Seeing all five of them back together on stage, even briefly, reminded everyone how big they really were.

After that, the next major moment came in 2019.

Melanie C, Melanie B, Geri Halliwell‑Horner and Emma reunited for the Spice World Tour. Victoria Beckham didn’t take part, focusing on her fashion brand and family instead, which is completely fair… but you did feel the gap.

Since then, it’s basically been a cycle of hopeful comments, busy schedules, the occasional hint, and a lot of “maybe, one day”.

So when something new does come out, like Mel C’s interview, fans notice.

Why It Still Matters (and My Cardiff Tour Memory)

I think the reason people are so invested in this is because the nostalgia never really leaves you.

We saw the Spice Girls live on the 2019 tour in Cardiff, and it was crazy in the best possible way.

The whole stadium felt like one big 90s throwback. Everyone in some version of Spice merch (apart from me, in my emergency backup outfit after a fake‑tan‑meets-drink situation forced me to abandon my “Spice It Up” top), neon lights everywhere, the intro starting and the whole place just lifting.

We screamed every lyric like we were back in our childhood bedrooms.

I left with a hoarse voice, sore cheeks, and glitter that was more difficult to scrub off than I had imagined.

And of course, that turned into us leaning fully into it afterwards.

We hosted a mini Spice Girls themed baby sprinkle for our bestie Tasha.

Five individual cakes (one for each Spice), a “Mama” sash, and my original Spice Girls photo album and CDs, yes, the actual ones from the loft. And yes, I still have all 120 collectible photos, which I’m weirdly proud of.

That’s the thing with the Spice Girls.

It’s not just the music. It’s everything around it. The memories, the friendships, the ridiculous amount of commitment to collecting things as a child.

Realistically, we’re still in “wait and see” territory.

Nothing confirmed. Nothing announced. No tour dates to plan outfits around (yet).

But between it being their 30th anniversary and Mel C openly saying they’re talking about something, it doesn’t feel completely out of reach either.

And if they do step back on stage together in 2026? I’ll be first in the queue, outfit pre‑approved, fake tan fully under control, and my “Spice It Up” tee finally getting its moment.
