If you grew up in the 90s, chances are the Spice Girls were more than just a pop group. They were a phenomenon.
They dominated our CD collections, filled our bedrooms with posters, convinced us that friendship never ends and somehow made platform trainers, Union Jack dresses and leopard print seem completely normal.
Over 30 years later, the nostalgia is just as strong, which is exactly why a Spice Girls themed party remains such a brilliant idea.

If you’re anything like me, reading this guide will probably unlock memories you haven’t thought about in years. From collecting the official photographs to recording the top 10 off the radio, watching music videos on repeat and arguing over which Spice Girl was the best, everyone seems to have their own Spice Girls story.
You could channel your favourite Spice Girl through fashion, create a paparazzi worthy VIP entrance, challenge guests to recreate iconic album covers, build grazing boards inspired by each member, or even design a life size Spice Girls doll box for photos.
Looking for something a little different? How about a Girl Power baby shower, a spa party based on Spice World: The Movie, five individual cakes representing each Spice Girl or party favours inspired by the iconic Pepsi Generation Next campaign?
Whether you’re planning a birthday party, hen do, baby shower, sleepover or girls’ weekend away, this guide is packed with creative ideas to help you recreate a little bit of Spice Mania.
So choose your Spice Girl, turn the volume up and let’s spice up your life.

Channel Your Inner Spice
One of the quickest ways to bring a Spice Girls party to life is through fancy dress. The moment guests start arriving as Baby, Scary, Sporty, Ginger or Posh, the atmosphere instantly changes and everyone gets into the spirit of the 90s theme.
The good news is that you don’t need to spend a fortune on costumes. One of the reasons I love this theme is that everyone can get involved. Unlike some fancy dress parties, you don’t need to buy a packaged costume complete with a scratchy wig and novelty accessories.

In fact, my personal preference is always to create your own interpretation of the character.
Growing up, Baby Spice was always my style icon. To this day I’m still drawn to pastel pinks and baby blues. That said, if I’m being honest, I probably dressed more like Sporty Spice most of the time. Between my Adidas poppers, bomber jackets and collection of sporty tracksuits, I was basically living the full 90s aesthetic.
The Spice Girls each had such a distinctive personality and style that a few carefully chosen details are often all you need.
Hair in pigtails instantly says Baby Spice.
A bit of leopard print and plenty of confidence can only mean Scary.
A sporty co-ord and trainers will have everyone thinking of Sporty.
A sleek black dress and oversized sunglasses are unmistakably Posh.
Whilst a flash of red and plenty of patriotism can only mean Ginger.
Rather than trying to recreate an exact outfit, think about the colours, accessories, hairstyles and attitude that made each Spice Girl instantly recognisable. The result usually feels much more natural and comfortable than a traditional fancy dress costume.

Baby Spice Style
Baby Spice’s look is sweet, playful and surprisingly easy to recreate.
Think pastel colours, baby doll dresses and anything that looks like it belongs in the late 90s. Add platform trainers, glittery lip gloss and a pair of heart shaped sunglasses and you’ll be serving peak Baby Spice energy.
If you don’t fancy wearing a dress, a pastel mini skirt and fluffy cardigan work just as well.
Scary Spice Style
If you’re the friend who loves making an entrance, Scary Spice is the obvious choice.
Animal print is essential, whether that’s a leopard print dress, jumpsuit, co-ord or even just a statement jacket. Pair it with chunky jewellery, voluminous hair and plenty of confidence.
The best thing about a Scary Spice costume is that it doesn’t need to be perfect. The bigger, bolder and more over the top, the better.

Sporty Spice Style
Sporty Spice is probably the easiest costume to pull together at the last minute.
A crop top, joggers, trainers and a high ponytail instantly give Sporty Spice energy. Add sweatbands, a football scarf or a handheld microphone if you want to fully commit to the look.
This is also a great option for guests who love fancy dress themes but still want to be comfortable enough to dance all night.
Ginger Spice Style
No Spice Girls party would be complete without at least one Ginger Spice.
While the iconic Union Jack dress is the obvious choice, don’t worry if you can’t find one. A red mini dress paired with Union Jack accessories can create the same effect without the expense.
Red lipstick, platform boots and plenty of attitude are completely non-negotiable.

Posh Spice Style
For anyone who loves dressing up but doesn’t enjoy novelty costumes, Posh Spice is the answer.
A little black dress, oversized sunglasses and a sleek hairstyle create an instantly recognisable look. The key is keeping everything simple, polished and effortlessly glamorous.
Bonus points if you manage to keep a straight face in every photo.
Coordinated in Silver & White
Any fan who watched the Return of the Spice Girls Tour 2007 will recognise the look instantly., where the girls performed in coordinated silver and white outfits.
This is one of my favourite Spice Girls party ideas because it feels glamorous, modern and surprisingly easy to recreate. Instead of everyone dressing as a different Spice Girl, ask guests to wear white and silver while interpreting the look in their own way.

Baby Spice might wear a floaty silver baby doll dress, whilst Scary might opt for metallic leggings and a fitted crop top. Posh may naturally gravitate towards a sleek silver cocktail dress, Ginger could wear silver hotpants paired with a statement top, and Sporty might choose a white co-ord with trainers and a metallic bomber jacket.
Although everyone is wearing something completely different, the shared colour palette helps everything feel like it belongs together; making it perfect for a group of girls to be coordinated. It’s also a great option if you want the theme to feel a little more grown up whilst still being instantly recognisable to any Spice Girls fan.
Spice Girl Squad Style
Planning a larger party? Rather than assigning everyone a specific Spice Girl, why not divide your guests into Spice inspired squads?
This idea takes inspiration from the Spice World 2019 Tour, where the backing dancers were grouped together to represent each Spice Girl’s personality and style. It’s a brilliant option for large hen parties, birthday celebrations and girls’ getaways because it avoids ending up with ten Baby Spices, two Scary Spices and absolutely nobody volunteering to be Posh!

Instead, split guests into teams and let each squad put their own spin on a particular Spice Girl. Not only does it make organising outfits easier, but it also looks brilliant in group photos. Each squad has its own personality whilst still feeling part of the wider Spice Girls theme.
Decor That Says “Spice World”
This is where the magic happens. And as I always say, it’s all in the detail.
When planning your Spice Girls party decorations, think beyond balloons and banners. The best themed parties are full of little surprises and references that make people smile, and every corner of the room is an opportunity to add a little Girl Power and nostalgia.
VIP Arrival Moment
The Spice Girls spent much of the 90s collecting awards, walking red carpets and posing for photos, so why not make your guests feel like VIPs from the moment they arrive?
Create a paparazzi inspired entrance using a red carpet runner, a branded backdrop and plenty of faux cameras and flash props. Whether you’re hosting at home or in a venue, this instantly sets the tone and gets everyone excited for the party ahead.

I also love the idea of handing out personalised VIP lanyards as guests arrive. These can double as name badges whilst adding to the popstar atmosphere. Give each guest their own Spice inspired nickname, such as Bride Spice, Mum Spice or Birthday Spice, for an extra personal touch.

Photo Backdrop Ideas
Once guests have made their grand entrance, give them somewhere special to gather throughout the party.
A dedicated selfie backdrop gives guests somewhere to chat and take photos. One of my favourite examples is this Spice Girls themed balloon installation created by Confetti Hetti, which cleverly incorporates colours, prints and details inspired by each member of the group.
Think balloon garlands, mesh backdrops, disco balls, neon signs and plenty of sparkle. A glowing Girl Power, Spice Up Your Life or Zig-a-Zig-Ah sign would look fantastic surrounded by balloons and metallic details.
The key is creating a spot that’s impossible to walk past without snapping a photo.

It’s All in the Detail
If you’ve read any of my party planning guides before, you’ll know I’m a firm believer that it’s the little details that make a theme memorable. A balloon display might grab attention, but it’s often the smaller touches that get people talking.
There are so many songs, music videos and iconic moments you can take inspiration from when planning a Spice Girls party. The props you choose will depend on where you’re hosting the celebration and how much space you have available.
If you’re celebrating something small at home, try styling coffee tables, shelves and sideboards with nostalgic items. I still have my original Spice Girls photo album from the 90s, along with CDs, magazines and memorabilia, and these make brilliant conversation starters when displayed around the room. In fact, I’ve used many of these items as party props over the years. I even dug them out when styling a Spice Girls themed baby sprinkle for a friend, and they were some of the first things guests commented on.
A stack of Smash Hits magazines and a large bowl filled with Chupa Chups can transport people straight back to the height of Spice Mania.
You could also leave out disposable cameras, autograph books and glitter gel pens for guests to enjoy throughout the party. Before smartphones, every special occasion seemed to be captured on a disposable camera, so they fit the theme perfectly.
If you’re hosting a larger celebration in a venue, think about creating themed displays around the room, almost like a mini Spice Girls museum. Some can simply be displayed as part of the décor, whilst others can become interactive elements for guests to enjoy throughout the party.
Some of my favourite ideas include:
- A BRIT Awards station complete with replica trophies that can later be awarded as prizes for games and competitions.
- A tower of Pepsi cans inspired by the iconic Pepsi Generation Next campaign.
- An oversized STOP sign inspired by the hit single.
- A framed photo of King Charles covered in lipstick kisses as a cheeky nod to one of the group’s most famous moments.
- A Top of the Pops countdown board showing Wannabe sitting proudly at Number One.
- A London double decker bus inspired by Spice World: The Movie.
- A megaphone labelled “Chief” in honour of the band’s eccentric tour manager from the film.
You can even draw inspiration from the music videos. Fairy wings, magical books and whimsical props are perfect nods to Viva Forever, whilst Union Jack bunting, platform trainers, velvet chokers and Girl Power signs instantly capture the spirit of the 90s.
When talking about party details, I couldn’t leave out this incredible celebration by Elicia Starkman. You can tell immediately that she’s a true Spice Girls superfan because there are references everywhere, yet somehow it all works together perfectly.
Rather than trying to include every Spice Girls reference imaginable, she focuses on a few key themes and repeats them throughout the party. Baby pink, leopard print and disco balls appear everywhere, from the cake and cupcake display to the table styling, drinking cups, plates and backdrop. It’s a brilliant example of how repeating a few key colours and design elements can help a theme feel pulled together without becoming overwhelming.
I particularly love how they created a focal point with a Union Jack backdrop paired with the red British telephone box, a fun nod to one of Britain’s most iconic girl bands. The customised denim jackets featuring the Friendship Never Ends lyric are another lovely touch and feel like the sort of keepsake guests would treasure long after the party.
If you’re struggling to bring all your ideas together, this is a fantastic example of how to do it well. Pick a couple of recurring colours, patterns or symbols and use them throughout the celebration. In this case, the leopard print, baby pink and disco balls tie everything together beautifully.
Guests won’t spot every detail straight away. They’ll discover things throughout the party, which makes it much more fun than simply sticking up a few decorations.
This party by Sweetwood Creative Co is a brilliant example of exactly that. I had to watch their reel several times before I noticed all of my favourite details. The more I looked, the more Spice Girls references I spotted.
This party is full of little surprises. The leopard print backdrop and tableware immediately nod to Scary Spice, whilst the Union Jack dance floor and placemats are a fun tribute to Ginger. There are friendship bracelets, a 90s inspired glam station complete with butterfly clips, glitter, hair mascara and colourful extensions, plus a vintage style afternoon tea setup with tiered cake stands, teacups and teapots.
What made me smile most, though, was the fact that the mums had their own Mama’s Mimosa and Munchies station. Whilst the children may have been the intended guests, it looked like the mums ended up taking over the dance floor by the end of the party!
Cake Table Styling
After all those photo opportunities, it’s time to bring the attention back to the cake table.
A beautifully styled cake display acts as both a decorative feature and a practical serving area, making it one of the hardest working spaces at the party.

I always recommend using different heights to add visual interest. Cake stands, display boxes, crates and risers can all help create a layered look that feels far more impressive than simply placing everything on a flat table.
A great example of this comes from Mirnol Party, who created a colourful display packed with bold styling and plenty of different heights. Alongside the main cake, use the space to showcase cupcakes, biscuits, sweets, party favours and themed props. The dessert table is another opportunity to tell the story of your Spice Girls party.
Whilst this section focuses on styling and displaying your sweet treats, don’t worry, we’ll dive into Spice Girls themed cakes, cupcakes and afternoon tea ideas in the next section.

Spice Girls Tablescape Ideas
If you’re serving food at your celebration, your table is another opportunity to bring the theme to life.
One of my favourite ideas is creating centrepieces inspired by each Spice Girl’s personality. These don’t need to be expensive or elaborate. Sometimes a few carefully chosen props have the biggest impact.
Sporty’s place setting could include a mini football, sweatbands or even mini dumbbells. Ginger’s might feature a Union Jack flag, plenty of red accents or even a tongue in cheek box of red hair dye. Posh’s could incorporate a stylish black handbag, a compact mirror or oversized sunglasses. Scary’s table styling could introduce animal prints and bold textures, whilst Baby’s could feature pastel sweets displayed in glass jars. It’s all about layering personality into the details.

For an extra nostalgic touch, place retro style mixtapes at each table setting. They can be used as place cards, personalised name settings or simply dotted around the table. It’s a playful nod to the mixtape era and a detail many guests will instantly recognise.

If bright colours and leopard print aren’t really your thing, take inspiration from Beijos Events, who created a more subtle Spice Girls inspired tablescape using neutral colours and thoughtful nods to each member of the group.
Think rustic orange, cream and gold with hints of each Spice Girl’s personality woven throughout the design. It’s a great option for more grown up gatherings where you still want to embrace a little Girl Power, just with less glitter.
Girl Power Shower
A Spice Girls baby shower might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but it’s actually a brilliant theme for celebrating the arrival of a little girl.
Rather than recreating the bold colours, animal prints and larger than life personalities that feature throughout the rest of this guide, my advice would be to strip everything back and focus on the message behind the music instead.
Think soft neutrals, natural textures, delicate florals and a softer colour palette, with just a few carefully chosen nods to the Spice Girls woven throughout the décor. Baby Spice’s signature pastel palette works beautifully in this setting, whilst the band’s famous Girl Power message feels perfectly suited to celebrating the next generation.

Some fun ideas include:
- Little Spice on the Way
- A New Spice Girl is Coming
- Spice Up Your Life… With a Baby
- Future Girl Power Leader
Day Dream Studio created a beautiful example of this approach, using soft layers, fresh white tapered candles and natural textures to create a celebration that feels more baby shower than Spice Girls themed.
Instead of relying on obvious Spice Girls references, bring the theme to life through empowering messages, friendship focused quotes, personalised signage and subtle lyric references. These small details capture everything the Spice Girls stood for without taking over the whole celebration.

Sugar, Spice and All Things Nice
Spice Girls Afternoon Tea
Calling the Spice Girls a British institution might be a bit of an understatement, so it feels only right to celebrate with one of Britain’s most iconic traditions: afternoon tea.

Back in 2013, Harvey Nichols launched a Viva Forever themed champagne afternoon tea inspired by the Spice Girls musical, and the menu was packed with clever references to each member of the group.
Guests could enjoy vanilla and raspberry mousse served in a baby bottle for Baby Spice, chilli chocolate rolls decorated with leopard print discs for Scary, and a zesty orange chocolate cake pop inspired by Sporty. Ginger Spice was represented with a lemon and ginger cake finished with a Union Jack topper, whilst Posh inspired an elegant Victoria sponge designed to resemble a designer shopping bag.

Alongside the sweet treats were classic afternoon tea favourites, including finger sandwiches, creamed smoked salmon on pumpernickel bread, egg mayo bridge rolls, and scones with champagne strawberry jam, proving that themed food doesn’t have to mean children’s party food.
And yes, there were themed champagne cocktails to match each Spice Girl’s personality.

Thankfully, you don’t need a Harvey Nichols budget to recreate the idea at home. A traditional afternoon tea already provides the perfect foundation for a Spice Girls themed party. Simply add a few playful touches inspired by each Spice Girl, such as themed cake toppers, personalised food labels or colour coordinated decorations.
It’s a simple way to celebrate one of Britain’s biggest pop culture exports whilst giving guests a hefty dose of 90s nostalgia.
Spice Girls Grazing Boards
If a traditional afternoon tea isn’t quite your style, a Spice Girls grazing board is a fun and modern alternative. One of my favourite recent party trends is the grazing board party, where each guest is given a theme and brings their own board to add to the spread.
For a Spice Girls themed party, why not ask each guest, or group of guests, to choose a Spice Girl and create a grazing board inspired by their personality? Boards can be presented on platters, wooden boards, crates, trays or even in themed gift boxes, creating a colourful and impressive display once everything is brought together.
Although this video from Feel Good Foodie isn’t Spice Girls themed, it’s a brilliant example of how to create a grazing board around a specific colour palette. The concept works perfectly for a Spice Girls party too. Simply choose your favourite Spice Girl and swap the colours, treats and decorations to match their personality and style.
Baby Spice – Think pastel colours and sweet treats. Strawberries, pink marshmallows, raspberry macarons, candy floss, pink iced biscuits and heart shaped sweets all work beautifully. Finish with ribbons, heart shaped decorations or pastel flowers for full Baby Spice vibes.
Scary Spice – Scary’s board should be bold and unapologetic. Dark chocolates, brownies, chocolate covered pretzels and cola bottles are perfect. Add touches of leopard print to the styling to really bring the theme to life.
Sporty Spice – Sporty’s board could focus on fresh and energising snacks, such as grapes, melon, pineapple, pretzels, nuts, protein balls and cheese cubes. You could even serve everything in mini sports cones or incorporate football themed accessories into the display.
Take inspiration from Ginger’s iconic red, white and blue colour palette with strawberries, raspberries, ginger biscuits, mini Victoria sponge slices and red velvet treats. Finish the board with a few Union Jack cocktail sticks for a simple nod to Ginger’s most famous look.
Posh Spice – Posh’s board should feel a little more luxurious. Think artisan cheeses, crackers, olives, luxury chocolates, macarons and grapes. Keep the styling sleek with black accents and simple presentation.
Once all the boards are placed together, you’ll have an incredible grazing table packed with colour, personality and plenty of food. And because everyone contributes something, you’re not left doing all the work yourself.
90s Nostalgia Snacks
If there’s one thing guaranteed to get people talking, it’s a table full of 90s snacks. The Spice Girls were the soundtrack to many of our childhoods, so why not serve the foods we all remember from school discos, sleepovers and trips to the corner shop?
Fill a table with retro favourites and let guests relive their younger years one sugary treat at a time.
Think Party Rings, Iced Gems, Chupa Chups, Love Hearts, Chewits, Push Pops, Ring Pops, Jelly Cups, Gobstoppers, Refreshers, Dip Dabs, Drumstick Lollies, Sherbet Fountains, Candy Necklaces, Hubba Bubba and Toffos.
Don’t forget the chocolatey treats either. Mini Rolls, Wildlife Bars, Chomps, Taz Bars and Freddos instantly transport me back to the 90s and make brilliant additions to a themed snack table.
For a savoury option, add classics such as Transform-A-Snack and Space Raiders. They might not be glamorous, but they’ll definitely get people reminiscing.
And of course, no 90s snack station would be complete without a few retro drinks. Panda Pops and Sunny D are guaranteed to bring back memories of school discos, birthday parties and packed lunches.
Spice Girls Food Labels
No matter what food you decide to serve, one of the easiest ways to tie everything together is with a few themed food labels. They’re affordable, easy to create and guaranteed to make guests smile as they work their way around the buffet table.
Whether you’re serving afternoon tea, grazing boards, a 90s snack station or a full party buffet, adding a few Spice Girls inspired puns instantly makes the food feel more personal and memorable.
Some fun options include:
- Spice Up Your Slice – pizza
- Say You’ll Brie There – cheese board
- 2 Become Bun – mini burgers
- Too Much Trifle – trifle
- Who Do You Think You Tart? – fruit tarts
- Wannabe Brownies – chocolate brownies
- Stop Right Now, Thank You Muffin – muffins
- Holler-peños – jalapeño poppers
- Nacho Ordinary Spice Girl – nachos
- Spice Up Your Dip– dips
- Viva Forever Cupcakes – cupcakes
- Mama, I Love Yum – sandwiches
- Mama I Love Crumbs – sandwiches
- Goodbrie – baked brie
- Never Give Up On The Good Bites – grazing platter
- Spice Up Your Loaf – sandwiches or bread selection
- Viva Forever Fried Chicken – chicken
- Spice Up Your Chicken – chicken
- Wannabe a Popstar? – popcorn
- Pop Up Your Life – popcorn
Food labels cost very little to create, but they instantly make a buffet feel more personal and a lot more fun. After all, nobody expects to walk into a party and be greeted by a tray of 2 Become Buns or a bowl of Holler-peños!
Spice Girls Cake Ideas
Every celebration deserves a show stopping cake, and a Spice Girls themed party is no exception.
One cake is great, but five individual cakes inspired by each Spice Girl makes a real statement. That’s probably why I love this display of cakes so much! We used a similar idea for a friend’s Spice Girls themed baby sprinkle, displaying five individual cakes on separate cake stands. Ours weren’t quite as perfect as these, but everyone got to leave with their own cake at the end of the celebration.

Of course, if five cakes feels a little ambitious, there are plenty of other ways to bring the theme to life. Some designs focus on the Spice Girls logo, whilst others draw inspiration from their most iconic outfits, lyrics, music videos and personalities.
One of my personal favourites is the fairy wing cake by The Cake Artists. Viva Forever has always been one of my favourite Spice Girls songs, so this design immediately stood out to me. Inspired by the Viva Forever music video, the handcrafted sugar models look remarkably similar to the characters from the video. Fun fact: the music video was animated because Geri had already left the group by the time it was produced, making it one of the few Spice Girls videos not to feature the band together on screen.
As you’ll see from the inspiration images below, there really is a Spice Girls cake for every style and budget. From simple single tier birthday cakes to elaborate showstoppers featuring trainers, CDs, microphones and platform boots.
Cupcakes and biscuits can work just as well too. The retro cassette tape biscuits by The Sugar Cookie Co are a brilliant nod to creating mixtapes and recording your favourite songs from the radio, something many Spice Girls fans will remember doing during the height of Spice Mania.

After all the planning, decorating and cake inspiration, there’s only one thing left to do… cut the cake, crank up the Spice Girls playlist and enjoy the party.
Girl Power Drinks
Spice Girls Cocktails
When the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London, famous for the iconic staircase featured in the Wannabe music video, created a cocktail menu inspired by the Spice Girls, I knew it had to feature in this guide.

One thing that’s still on my Spice Girls bucket list is visiting the famous staircase and recreating the iconic Wannabe shot for myself.

Rather than creating generic pink and purple drinks, each cocktail was inspired by a different Spice Girl, making them a great starting point for your own party.

Baby Colada
A sweet and playful combination of cranberry juice, pineapple juice, double cream, coconut syrup and fresh raspberries, finished with sweets on top.
Bloody Scary
A bold and fiery mix of chilli infused tequila, gin, strawberry purée, grenadine and lime juice. Definitely not one for the faint-hearted!

A Good Sport
A fresh and energetic cocktail featuring gin, cherry and orange liqueur, amaretto, blood orange, lemon juice and egg white.
Ginger Kick
A warming blend of gin, Campari, Aperol, peach liqueur, orange juice and ginger beer. Perfect for anyone who likes their drinks with a little bit of spice.

Posh on the Rocks
An elegant combination of citrus vodka, elderflower liqueur and white cacao, finished with edible gold leaf petals for a suitably glamorous touch.
Pumpkin Spice Girls Shots
I’ll be honest, coffee has never really been my thing, but I couldn’t leave these out of a Spice Girls party guide.
Over the past few years, coffee culture has become a bit of a phenomenon. From Stanley cups and flavoured lattes to those obligatory trips to Costa and Starbucks, people seem to love the latest drinks trend. And when autumn rolls around, pumpkin spice flavours are everywhere, which is why these Pumpkin Spice Girls Shots caught my attention.

These miniature pumpkin spice latte inspired shots are small, simple and packed with flavour, making them ideal as a welcome drink, dessert shooter or fun addition to your drinks station.
The name alone made me smile. It’s exactly the sort of pun you’d expect to see at a Spice Girls party.

You could even personalise the presentation by decorating the shot glasses to represent the different Spice Girls. Think pastel ribbons for Baby, animal print details for Scary, sporty inspired accessories for Sporty, Union Jack accents for Ginger or sleek black embellishments for Posh.
If you’d like to recreate them yourself, I’ve included a video below showing exactly how they’re made.
Spice Girls Milkshakes
Don’t forget the younger fans! Or the adults looking for a fun alternative to cocktails.
Spice Girls milkshakes can be just as fun as a themed cocktail menu. Think vibrant colours, towering toppings and plenty of Girl Power, with each shake taking inspiration from a different Spice Girl.
Maxwell’s Bar & Grill created a collection of extravagant milkshakes to celebrate the Spice World 2019 Tour, and they’re packed with ideas you could easily recreate at home.

The Baby Spice
A pink bubblegum milkshake topped with mini marshmallows, candy floss, Love Hearts, pink Party Rings and sprinkles. Sweet, playful and unapologetically pink.
The Scary Spice
An Oreo milkshake piled high with whipped cream, cookie sandwiches and leopard print decorations. Bold, dramatic and impossible to ignore.

The Sporty Spice
A white chocolate milkshake topped with whipped cream, bubblegum sweets, candy floss and football-themed toppers.
The Ginger Spice
A salted caramel milkshake finished with whipped cream, caramel sauce, gingerbread and a caramel doughnut.

Sadly, Posh Spice didn’t make the Maxwell’s line up, but that’s because Victoria Beckham wasn’t part of the Spice World 2019 Tour. It seems Maxwell’s decided she should get her just desserts for skipping the reunion! If I were creating a Posh inspired version, I’d keep it sleek and stylish with luxury chocolate, gold accents and a few glamorous finishing touches.
Stop Right Now… It’s Time to Party!
You’ve nailed the outfits, decorated the venue, sorted the food and chosen your drinks. Now it’s time for the fun part: keeping your guests entertained.
Spice Girls parties don’t need a packed itinerary, but a few themed activities can get everyone involved and keep the fun going.
Spice Girl Costume Contest
A Spice Girls themed party is the perfect excuse for a little friendly competition. Encourage guests to fully embrace the theme and show off their best Spice inspired looks, whether they’ve recreated a classic outfit or created their own interpretation of a favourite Spice Girl.

Award prizes for categories such as:
- Most Authentic Spice Girl
- Best Group Costume
- Best Homemade Outfit
- Most Creative Interpretation
- Ultimate Girl Power Award
- Best Hair
- Best Dance Moves
- Best in Character
To make it feel extra special, hand out miniature BRIT Awards or Smash Hits inspired trophies to the winners. Given how many awards the Spice Girls collected during the 90s, it feels very on brand!
Spice Girls Trivia Quiz
Think you know your Spice Girls facts? Time to put your guests to the test. A themed quiz works just as well for a small gathering as it does for a larger party. You could include rounds covering iconic songs, lyrics, tours, music videos, memorable quotes and general Spice Girls trivia.

I’ve even created three downloadable versions to suit different levels of expertise:
You could also include mini bonus rounds such as Finish The Lyric, Name That Tour or Who Said It? for extra points.
Don’t forget to award a prize for the best team name. Personally, I’d struggle to resist voting for Spice Invaders.
Karaoke & Lip Sync Battles
No Spice Girls party would be complete without at least one performance of Wannabe. Whether you’re using a karaoke machine, YouTube backing tracks or simply a hairbrush microphone and a lot of confidence, a Spice Girls singalong is guaranteed to get everyone involved.
For larger groups, turn things up a notch with a lip sync battle. Guests can perform solo, in pairs or as a full five piece girl band, recreating iconic performances, outfits and dance moves.

Recreate Iconic Album Covers & Photoshoots
Split guests into teams of five and challenge them to recreate some of the Spice Girls’ most iconic album covers, single covers and promotional photos within a set time limit.
You could use images from:
- Spice
- Spiceworld
- Forever
- Smash Hits magazine covers
- Top of the Pops photo shoots
- Brit Awards performances
- Tour publicity images
Once each team has recreated their chosen image, compare the results against the original and award prizes for accuracy, creativity or pure comedy value.
I absolutely love this idea because it gets funnier the longer it goes on. With a time limit, suddenly everyone is frantically trying to recreate iconic poses, shouting instructions at each other and arguing over who’s standing where. By the time somebody yells “Click!” and the photo is taken, half the group is usually laughing too much to stay in character.
Spice Girls fans have been recreating the group’s iconic looks for years. Mel B’s daughter, Phoenix Chi Gulzar, even recreated several of her mum’s most famous Spice Girls outfits. It’s a lovely reminder that sometimes the most recognisable looks are every bit as fun to recreate as the album covers themselves.
Life Size Spice Girls Doll Box
Everyone has seen the giant Barbie boxes used as photo booth backdrops, but did you know the Spice Girls released their own doll collection? That’s why a life size Spice Girls doll box makes such a fun and unique addition to a themed party.
Create a giant doll box complete with Spice Girls branding, a themed backdrop and space for guests to step inside and pose as their favourite Spice Girl. It’s a brilliant photo opportunity and guaranteed to get people talking.
For inspiration, take a look at Jake Jamie and Megan Zietz’s fantastic DIY versions, both of which bring the idea to life brilliantly.

Spice Girls Dance Class
Let’s be honest, most of us still remember at least part of the choreography to Stop or Who Do You Think You Are. So why not turn those memories into an activity?
You could hire a dance instructor, book a themed hen party dance class or simply follow a YouTube tutorial and learn the routines together.
It’s a brilliant ice breaker, creates lots of laughs and gives everyone a chance to live out their pop star dreams.
Plus, by the end of the night you’ll have a ready made performance for your karaoke session.

Girl Power Spa Party
If your ideal celebration involves fewer dance moves and more relaxation, why not take inspiration from the unforgettable spa scene in Spice World: The Movie? This works particularly well for sleepovers, girls’ weekends and smaller gatherings.

Think:
- Colourful robes
- Face masks
- Floor cushions
- Glitter nail polish
- Slushies served in themed cups
- A Spice Girls movie marathon

Jake Jamie’s Spice Girls themed sleepover shows exactly how well this can work, complete with robe stations, pick-n-mix sweets display, personalised touches and a screening of the film itself.

Of all the activity ideas in this guide, this is probably the one I’d choose for my own celebration. I love the bright robes, oversized cushions, personalised slushies and playful details. The life size doll box completely steals the show though. It looks just like the original packaging from the Spice Girls dolls I always wanted growing up.
Spice Girls Party Favours
As the party winds down and the final chorus of Goodbye plays, send your guests home with a little something to remember the magic.
Party favours don’t need to be expensive to make an impact. They’re the ones that make people smile, spark a memory or remind them of a brilliant night shared with friends. After all, friendship, fun and Girl Power were always at the heart of what made the Spice Girls so special.
Pepsi Generation Next
This is one of the simplest party favour ideas in the guide, and it’s also one of the most nostalgic.
The Spice Girls’ partnership with Pepsi became one of the most iconic celebrity campaigns of the 90s, making miniature Pepsi cans an instantly recognisable and surprisingly nostalgic gift.
Inspired by the Generation Next campaign, you could present each guest with a mini can alongside a personalised thank you tag or themed label. It’s simple, affordable and a reference that true Spice Girls fans will appreciate immediately.

Spice Girl Starter Kit
If you’re looking for something a little more creative, why not put together a mini Spice Girl Starter Kit for each guest?
Fill a small gift bag or box with a few nostalgic goodies and a little extra Girl Power. Ideas could include:
- A mini jar of mixed spice labelled Spice Up Your Life
- A Girl Power heart pin badge
- A friendship bracelet
- A Chupa Chup
We included Girl Power heart pin badges in the favour bags for my friend Tasha’s 40th birthday celebration and I still have mine today. It’s such a simple favour idea, but it feels much more like a keepsake than a throwaway party bag filler.

Autograph Books & Girl Power Pens
Long before selfies and social media, collecting autographs was a huge part of being a Spice Girls fan.
Why not lean into that nostalgia by giving each guest a mini autograph book and a Girl Power pen? Throughout the party, guests can collect messages, memories and inside jokes from each other, creating a personalised keepsake they’ll actually want to keep.

Backstage Passes & Concert Wristbands
If you’ve already used VIP lanyards as people arrived at the party, don’t let them go to waste.
Personalised backstage passes, concert style wristbands and festival inspired lanyards make brilliant keepsakes that double as party favours. Add guests’ names, Spice Girl nicknames or the date of the celebration for an extra personal touch.
They’re inexpensive to create but instantly make everyone feel like they’ve attended a real Spice Girls concert.
Mixtape Memories
Before Spotify playlists, there were mixtapes. Creating somebody a personalised mixtape was basically the ultimate friendship gesture in the 90s, making it a fitting Spice Girls party favour.

Cassette shaped keyrings, printable mixtape covers or personalised playlist cards featuring a QR code linking to your party playlist are all fun modern twists on the idea.
Whether it’s a Pepsi can, a Girl Power badge or a personalised mixtape, the favours people hang onto are usually the ones with a story behind them. And if you’re lucky, years later they’ll still make somebody smile every time they spot them tucked away in a drawer.
Spice Up Your Playlist
At the heart of every great Spice Girls party is the thing that brought us all here in the first place: the music.
Yes, the Spice Girls championed friendship, confidence and female empowerment. Yes, they gave us iconic fashion moments, unforgettable music videos and enough leopard print to last a lifetime. But ultimately, it was the music that made us superfans.
Over 30 years later, their songs still fill dance floors, spark memories and bring people together for a singalong. Put on the right playlist and your party suddenly feels a lot more Spice Girls.
For me, hearing Say You’ll Be There instantly transports me back to the 90s, singing at the top of my lungs into my oversized Coca Cola CD and cassette player. Between Now! 34 and my Spice Girls CDs, I’m fairly sure the whole street knew every word too.
Build Your Playlist Around the Albums
A great Spice Girls playlist should start with the group’s four iconic albums:
- Spice (1996)
The debut that started it all, packed with classics such as Wannabe, Say You’ll Be There and 2 Become 1. - Spiceworld (1997)
The album that gave us Spice Up Your Life, Stop and Viva Forever. - Forever (2000)
A more R&B influenced sound with tracks such as Goodbye, Holler and Let Love Lead The Way. - Greatest Hits (2007)
A celebration of the band’s biggest anthems and the perfect addition to any dance floor playlist.
Don’t forget some of the songs that became synonymous with the Spice Girls beyond the albums themselves. Who Do You Think You Are and Mama from the iconic Comic Relief charity single are guaranteed to get everyone singing along, whilst Move Over remains forever linked to the band’s memorable Pepsi Generation Next campaign.

For the Superfans
If your guest list is packed with die hard Spice Girls fans, sprinkle in a few solo tracks too.
Geri’s solo career gave us classics including:
- Mi Chico Latino
- Lift Me Up
- Bag It Up
- Look At Me
- It’s Raining Men
Mel C went on to have one of the most successful solo careers from the group, with tracks including:
- Never Be The Same Again
- I Turn To You
- When You’re Gone
You could even throw in Victoria Beckham’s Out Of Your Mind for a cheeky nod to Posh. Mel B fans might appreciate I Want You Back and Word Up, whilst Emma’s What Took You So Long? and What I Am help round out the playlist with a few more familiar favourites.

Turn Your Party Into a Concert
Want to take things a step further? Mix in live performances, reunion tour recordings, remixes and even snippets from Spice World: The Movie to recreate the atmosphere of a real Spice Girls concert.
You could also include iconic interview clips, award show moments and memorable soundbites between songs to keep the nostalgia flowing and give guests something unexpected.
My Ultimate 90s Party Playlist
As much as I love the Spice Girls, I wouldn’t play them on repeat for an entire evening.
That’s why I’ve created my own 90s Spotify playlist packed with the artists and songs that defined the decade. Alongside the Spice Girls you’ll find Britney Spears, Steps, S Club 7, B*Witched, Five, Backstreet Boys, All Saints, Aqua, Vengaboys and plenty more nostalgic favourites guaranteed to keep the dance floor full.
Whether you’re reliving your childhood, introducing the next generation to Girl Power or simply looking for an excuse to celebrate with your favourite people, I hope this guide has given you plenty of inspiration for your own Spice Girls themed party.
For me, that’s always been the magic of the Spice Girls. One minute you’re talking about your favourite song, the next you’re reminiscing about school discos, collecting magazine freebies, recording songs off the radio or singing into a hairbrush in front of the bedroom mirror.
Even now, their songs still have the power to fill a dance floor, spark nostalgia and bring people together for a singalong. Few bands can claim that kind of legacy.
And perhaps that’s why a Spice Girls party works so well. It isn’t really about recreating the 90s perfectly. It’s about celebrating the music, the memories and all those little moments that made growing up with the Spice Girls so much fun.
So turn the music up, gather your favourite people and enjoy every nostalgic second of it.
After all, friendship never ends. 💖
