Sean Jackson was headlining at The Live Lounge in Cardiff on the night my husband and I met, so having him perform at our wedding felt like a lovely full circle moment.
We always knew we wanted Sean to perform at our wedding, so booking him was one of the first things we did.
Sean performed instrumental versions of our ceremony songs, including More Than Words, Thinking Out Loud, All Of Me and Love Story. He also played throughout our drink’s reception at Canada Lodge and Lake while guests enjoyed drinks on the patio overlooking the lake.
We wanted music that felt familiar, relaxed and easy to listen to while guests mingled, so Live Lounge style covers felt like the perfect choice.
Instead of sending Sean a strict set list, I put together a playlist to give him a feel for the sort of music and atmosphere I wanted to create.
After all, the aim wasn’t for him to perform every song below. I simply wanted to share the style of music I love and the relaxed Live Lounge vibe I was hoping for.
One of the things I love most about live music is hearing artists make songs their own. I didn’t want somebody singing exact copies of the originals. I wanted Sean’s versions.
If you’re booking a wedding singer or guitarist, I’d really recommend creating a playlist like this. Not as a list of demands, but as a way of helping them understand the atmosphere you’re trying to create.
