If your child switches favourite superheroes faster than you can say “Avengers Assemble!”, you’re not alone. When we styled Jackson’s bedroom, we embraced the whole superhero squad, because choosing just one? Impossible.

Here are five DIY décor ideas that turned his room into a superhero base worthy of a comic book cameo. Bonus: they’re budget friendly, fun to make, and packed with personality. After all, it’s all in the detail.
1. Superhero Feature Wall
We kicked things off with a bold comic book wallpaper on the TV wall. It was bright, retro, and instantly eye catching. We loved it so much, we reused it in other accessories; framing individual comic covers and even wrapping 3D mache letters to spell out Jackson’s name. Red paint on the edges made them pop!

Top Tip: Don’t toss leftover wallpaper, use it for mini projects like framed art or drawer liners.
2. Superhero Storage Boxes
Toys, toys, and more toys. We needed storage that was kid friendly and fun. Using canvas boxes and felt sheets, we created superhero logos and glued them on. Now Jackson can find his Lego and feel like a hero while tidying up. (Yes, miracles do happen.)

To make the logos, we printed out superhero emblems onto paper, then used them as stencils. We outlined the shapes onto felt sheets, carefully cut them out, and used fabric glue to stick them onto the storage boxes. Superman is my favourite, classic, bold, and instantly recognisable!

Top Tip: Let your child choose the logos, they’ll love being part of the creative process, and it’s a great way to personalise each box.
3. Hero-Up Costume Display
Jackson’s dressing up corner is a showstopper. Two coat racks, a vinyl “Hero-Up” sticker, and framed comic prints made it feel like a superhero hideout. His capes and masks are now proudly on display, and easy to grab for spontaneous superhero missions.

Top Tip: Use removable hooks if you’re renting or want flexibility.
4. Up-cycled Superhero Furniture
Instead of buying new furniture, we gave Jackson’s drawers a superhero makeover. White gloss paint, colourful drawer fronts, and logo stickers turned plain pine into POW-worthy pieces. It’s amazing what a few tester pots and stickers can do.

Top Tip: Mix and match colours to reflect different heroes, red for Ironman, green for Hulk, blue for Superman!
5. Superhero Accessories
We added the finishing touches with themed bedding, a Captain America rug, and 3D-effect night lights. These little details made a big impact, and helped Jackson sleep soundly knowing his superhero squad was close by.

Top Tip: Use what you already have! Toys, books, and costumes double as décor.
Final Thoughts: It’s All in the Detail
Creating a superhero haven doesn’t need a blockbuster budget. With a little creativity and a few clever hacks, you can build a space that’s fun, functional, and totally heroic.
